Another Month in the books! Project Life 2015 weeks 42-44

Slowly but surely I am making a dent on completing my 2015 Project Life. Completing weeks 42-44 were a milestone as it knocked another month off (only two left to go!!). I decided to go back to a tried and true method of finishing up my project life pages when I fall behind, and that’s going to the Project Life App.

Not that I go in and complete my layouts and print them, no folks that would be too easy, but I do print individual cards which I have already journalled on which saves time. Also, it is a lot easier to find coordinating cards and sets with the app, as opposed to rifling through my physical collection. Often I end up doing a mix of both cards printed from the app and my existing cards, but either way, using the app definitely helps me save time. But I cannot fully go digital, I love the tactile nature of scrapbooking too much!

Week 42

Week 42 signalled thanksgiving and the start of the hockey season for my boys. All the cards I used were from Gossamer Blue, either their October or November life pages kit (I can’t remember offhand). To the title card, I added a rub on “hello” from Dear Lizzy and I hand cut a black banner and added “week” to it with alphas from Simple Stories. I cut a scrap circle and added “42” in wood veneers and added some enamel dots and a veneer leaf from Gossamer Blue.

To several of the cards, I added some super cute veneer acorns, also from Gossamer Blue. I added the green strip and the words “hockey rules” in thickers to the “Around Here” card just to add some colour and interest (the card was originally all white).

One of my favourite things about the Gossamer Blue subscriptions is the digital cut files  sent each month. Every month I print and cut out the bits of ephemera using my Silhouette. This month, I used a lot of those ephemera pieces, including several word banners, the “adore” ticket, the acorn circle on the bottom right hand corner and the journaling spot on the top right hand corner.

Week 43

I had a lot of Fall and Halloween themed events going on this week and I wanted to use those colours without going overboard with the Halloween elements. I used a variety of cards from the Cathy Zielske Everyday Value kit as they had lots of greys, oranges and blacks but were still muted enough that they didn’t scream Halloween.

It’s hard to see from the photo, but the title card actually says “Week No.” on it in light orange writing, so I added “43” in alphas from simple stories and typed and printed the dates. All the fall ephemera and shapes, like the acorns and leaves, are from K and Co. (I’ve had them for years, but I still love and use them all the time…I swear there must have been a million in that bag!)

Aside from some cute buttons from American Crafts, all other embellishments were printed ephemera from Gossamer Blue, including the journaling spot on my Back to The Future photo, the orange banners and the “EEK” circle.

Week 44

Halloween, the week has finally arrived! If you read my blog regularly, you know that I did a countdown to Halloween Album this year, and therefore I didn’t feel the need to cram 1000 photos into my weekly Project Life.

So all the cards and journaling from these pages were created on the app, printed out and cut into cards. They are from the Stampin Up Seasonal Snapshot collection.  I added very few embellishments to most of the cards, mostly just enamel dots and banners.

For the title card, I wrote “week 44” in alphas from American Crafts, and adhered them onto a black banner which I cut from scraps, then matted on another patterned paper. I added a dimensional sticker from American Crafts and stamped the week dates with my new Heidi Swapp roller date stamp (from my last Gossamer Blue kit, and I LOVE it!!). The card on the top of the right page actually has some faint grey spider webs on it, a little hard to see in the photo. I actually punched out the October 31 from another PL card and matted it on a black doily from Michaels, and added a bunch of ephemera and buttons.

And that concludes October….I can feel that the end is near!!!
